It was a big week for KSU basketball. Good wins over a quality Nebraska team, and beating the 21st ranked MU tigers at home. The match up on ESPN's big Monday should be a good one against a top ten ranked Texas. Texas appears to be struggling some as of late, with losses to Nebraska and Colorado, and KSU is hot of late, but I wouldn't go out and put a bunch of money on the Cats. Texas is a very good team, and they will be focused more than ever when our Cats role into Austin for the nationally televised event. There's a lot of basketball to play yet, from what I have read I have the utmost confidence the Cats are in the Tournament, I would guess somewhere between a 6-9 seed. Rumors from inside the basketball program is that Wally Judge is planning on playing for the Cats next year. I'm not sure that is good news or bad news, I was disappointed that Wally left his teammates in the middle of the season, so we will have to trust Coach Martin on this one. Coach Martin is putting together a nice schedule for next year with a tournament in Hawii and a game in Wichita with our good friend Bob Huggins of West Virgina. It will be interesting to see how K-Staters react to Huggins, as for me I have alot of respect and graditude towards Huggy Bear, he did good things for KSU's basketball program.
On the Football seen, it looks like this weekend was one where we bring in a lot of next years recruits, it will be interesting to see if any recruits commit. Coach Snyder has been on record saying he is not a fan of early recruiting. He would like to see a player in his senior year before he offers a scholarship, but I see he has several offers out to juniors already, especially on the defensive line, where there are always a shortage of quality players. It looks like the media has little respect for Coach Snyder again this year, early indications are they are picking the cats towards the bottom again. I believe this team will have some promise, our question marks are the entire defense and quarterback. If we can make a bowl game with one of the worst defenses in the nation, then we can still have hopes for a good season. As for the quarterback position, Daniel Sams tweeted that Colin Klien was moving to WR. I still have my doubts about that one, although it is possible. We would have Sammy Lamur, Justin Tuggle, and Sams battling it out for the starting position.
On the Scott Van Pelt show, ESPN's syndicated radio show, he started a segment saying he was going to talk about the coach who has done the best job in college football and 90% of his audience doesn't know who he is. His name is Bill Snyder, and went on to tell K-States story. Coach Martin has been making regular appearances on Jim Rome's show. It appears Jim Rome is a fan of Coach Marin's no non sense coaching style and believes Martin is a perfect fit for Kansas State. That's all I have for this week, don't forget to cheer the Cats to victory on Monday night against Texas, on ESPN at 9pm eastern time.
